Develop your skills and get involved

Perhaps your new year’s resolution is to try something new, then why not try one of the many courses that BADMINTON England has on offer? Whether you’re a coach, young person, teacher or someone interested in officiating there are a variety of options available.

Coaching Qualifications

We run the three levels of UKCC endorsed badminton coaching qualifications:

Level 1 Award in Coaching Badminton - is aimed at candidates aged 16 years or above. By the end of the course candidates will be qualified as an assistant coach and will be able to lead on activities.

Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Badminton – is aimed at candidates aged 18 years or above, who hold a Level 1 (or equivalent) coaching qualification in badminton. By the end of the course candidates will be able to coach independently and will be able to plan and deliver a series of linked and progressive sessions.

Level 3 Certificate in Coaching Badminton – is aimed at coaches working with players who are competing on a regular and competitive basis. By the end of the course candidates will be able to design and plan annual coaching programmes that recognise the total cycle of the participant and supports participant’s needs.

Coach Development Courses

Disability Coaching Course - The course aims to equip coaches with knowledge about the functional ability of disabled players to enable them to create and adapt practices and skill development sessions. It is suitable for coaches who are currently working with disabled athletes or those wanting to develop their skills so that they are prepared for and able to make their sessions suitable to players with a disability.  For further information click here…

Junior Courses

Badminton Junior Helper Award (BJHA) - is aimed at young people from 13 yearsupwards.  The course equips young people with knowledge skills of leadership and team work. The BJHA can be delivered by teachers (supported by the Familiarisation Course if required) or by BADMINTON England accredited tutors. For further information click here…

Young Officials Award (YOA) - is aimed at young people aged 14-19 years of age.  The course is a combination of practical and theory sessions designed to equip the Young Official with the necessary skills to enable them to officiate at badminton events. The YOA is delivered by trained BADMINTON England Tutors. Some of those completing the award have gone forward to officiate at big events such as the UK School Games. For further information click here…

Teacher

BISI Primary and Secondary – These courses are designed for teachers and others who are delivering badminton as part of PE lessons or after school clubs. The courses will introduce teachers to the wide range of activities that have been created as part of the Bisi Badminton resource, giving them the confidence to use the resource to its full potential. The Bisi Badminton Primary and Secondary resources are mapped to the National Curriculum Key Stages (Primary resource covers Key Stages 1 and 2 and the Secondary covers Key Stage 4).  For further information click here…

Officiating

Officials Assistant - is suited to anyone who wants to help out at Badminton Events or wants to learn more about the types of role and opportunities that are available to them. The course provides an introduction to a variety of roles and will help to signpost you towards opportunities to get involved as well as to take further training. For further information click here…

Tournament Organiser/Referee - This course is aimed at those who want to be able to deliver well organised tournaments.  Whether you are yet to run your own tournament or you have been helping out for a few years, then we are sure you will learn something from this course.
